In this study, technical evaluation was carried out after conducting a series of bench scale experiments on incomplete treated wastewater samples from one of Nasiriyah refinery oil fields. Some advanced treatment processes by using hydrogen peroxide were applied combined with some aid factors as catalysts such as ferrous in Fenton Process or ferric in Fenton-like process, as well as studying the effect of exposure to ultraviolet light such as the Fenton photon process, sample medium pH also was studied. After determining the concentrations of the most common pollutants in the industrial wastewater of the refineries (ammonia, oil, phenol, hydrogen sulfide, and chemical Oxygen Demand (to study their reduction during the photo-Fenton process, which was the most efficient method of treatment the studied samples, s following: The achieved higher removal efficiency of chemically consumed oxygen, ammonia, oil, phenol and hydrogen sulfide were 51.2%, 59.9%, 59%, 89.5% and 100% respectively. A study of the effect of treated water on traditional biological treatment showed that chemical inhibitors [intermediate) were present during the application of Fenton process at higher rates than the application of the dark Fenton process, which had an inhibition effect on the activity of responsible microorganisms of biological treatment. The results showed that Hydrogen applications has good performance in removing pollutants while economic evaluation of photo-Fenton process of operating cost was high comparing with biological treatment.
