The article discusses the basics of training an engineering specialist in higher education in the context of integrating the STEM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and the QFD methodology. The correlation of the conceptual principles of the implementation of the STEM approach and the QFD methodology is argued, which makes it possible to integrate these technologies and implement them in the educational process at the university. A procedure for training an engineering specialist based on the integration of the STEM approach and the QFD methodology is proposed, which allows translating consumer requirements into functional characteristics of the educational process that are understandable for university staff to implement, and satisfying employers’ requests to a university graduate at the design stage of the main professional educational program. The expediency of applying the proposed approach to specialist training in higher education in order to guarantee the quality of engineering education is substantiated.
