The article is devoted to the problem of improving the methodology of teaching mathematics in technical higher educational institutions in order to increase the effectiveness of teaching. In the work, existing approaches to the organization of a mathematics course are analyzed, and their shortcomings are identified in the context of modern requirements of technical education. The authors suggest comprehensive measures to optimize the educational process, including the integration of practice-oriented tasks, the use of information technologies and active learning methods. Particular attention is paid to the development of methodological recommendations for teachers aimed at increasing the motivation of students and developing their systematic thinking. The results of the study show that the proposed methodology improves engineering students’ understanding of mathematical concepts and improves their academic performance.
