Parking is one of the transportation problems faced by various elements of society, including big cities in Indonesia. This is caused by the role of metropolitan cities as center of the economy and social activities. Those activities has an impact on increasing citizen mobility to support activities. Exacerbated by the unavailability of public transportation facilities and infrastructure, residents do not have much choice but to use private vehicles. Unfortunately, the available land for parking vehicles is not increasing and is limited. In this paper, we will review the existing parking policies and the challenges that metropolitan cities in Indonesia must face, which aim to solve future parking problems. The research method used is to use literature studies and library studies, with a combination of these two studies it is hoped that this will become a research foundation that can make this research better and make it easier to get research results. The limitation of the scope of this parking research is only in metropolitan cities in Indonesia, including Greater Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Semarang, Medan, and Makassar. As a result, in metropolitan cities in Indonesia, a more detailed legal-based policy structure is needed to be able to regulate parking problems. Another challenge in human resources are the challenge of coordination and communication between stakeholders and the need for competent human resources. In addition, the widespread use of digital technology is also an alternative to reducing parking problems in the future.
