In this review, the machining and physical properties of AZ31, AZ91 and AZ61 Mg alloys were studied. The hot rolling effects and its impacts on the mechanical properties of Mg alloys were provided in this review. The recent technologies and testing methods adopted in corrosion protection and surface modification methods were reviewed. Moreover, the suitability of machining and the optimum parameters required to machine the Mg alloys were studied in this review. In addition, alloy performance in various applications and advanced testing methodologies utilized to test the properties of Mg alloys were provided in this review.
