Active mangrove planting has caused significant differentiation of environment condition where mangrovegrow. This research aimed to study the difference of environment condition, tannin content and the differentiation of environment parameters affecting tannin content in Avicennia marina bark. The research was carried out through field observation across two different seasons, namely rainy and dry season. Located in the coastal area of Semarang City, samples of environment condition and tannin content were obtained from two different growing locations, namely in the pond area and coastal area. Environment parameters observed were including salinity, temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen. Tannin samples were taken from mangrove trunk and further analyzed in the laboratory. Tannin content was analyzed through spectrophotometry. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression analysis. The result showed that tannin content in A. marina grown in different environment was affected by different parameters. In the coastal area, tannin content was affected by salinity, pH and DO with the following formula Tannin=-9.851 – 0.127 (Sal)+2.490 (pH) – 0.408 (DO). In the pond area, tannin content was only affected by DO with the following formula Tannin=6.025 – 0.306 (DO). These findings suggested that salinity and DO reduces the tannin content in A. marina, indicating its reduction in stress level. The insignificant impact of salinity and pH in the pond area was due to their lower fluctuation compared to the coastal area.
