The cement blended with mineral admixture enhances the strength and serviceability properties of cement products. ASTM C311 specifies the method of predicting the Pozzolanic performance of mineral admixtures. According to the procedure, the crushing strength of 7 days and 28 days cured mortar cubes with 20% replacement level in Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) was calculated and correlate with the cement mortar cube strength for evaluating the action of selected mineral admixtures by strength activity index (SAI) method. In this investigation, two different novel mineral admixtures namely Granite slurry powder (GSP)and Septage ash (SA) were selected for testing the pozzolanic performance in addition to a regular supplementary cementitious material such as Ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) for comparison purpose. According to ASTM C311, SAI threshold limit value for any mineral admixture was recommended as 75%. The results obtained from SAI calculations, GGBS had higher SAI and the novel admixture such as GSP is found satisfactory and SA is not suitable as pozzolanic material.
