Concrete is one of the most used building materials worldwide, and its production requires a significant amount of natural aggregate. Simultaneously, waste palm oil clinker (POC) from palm oil mills poses environmental pollution. The main aims are to investigate the effects of incorporating POC as a sand replacement on the workability, compressive strength and environmental sustainability performance. The experiment involved six different mixtures. Concrete mixtures with 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% fine POC replacement were cast and water cured for 28 days. The results demonstrate that the use of fine POC has an impact on both the workability and strength of the concrete. As more fine POC was employed, the workability of the concrete decreased. The analysis of mechanical properties indicated an optimum performance for the concrete mixture with 10% fine aggregate substituted by POC. In conclusion, the application of POC as a partial replacement for fine aggregate has the possible to minimize the amount of POC throw away in landfills and preserve river sand.
