Bricks are one of the most important components in a building. Commonly, bricks are used as fundamental component for manufacturing of house or building, it were chosen because the price very cheap, easy to obtain, has a high enough strength, is resistant to weather because the way it is made is burned. This research was conducted to determine the comparison of bricks without burning with traditional bricks with burning using SNI 15-2094-2000. This study used palm shell ash and lime as an adhesive, in a ratio of 1:8:2:2 on both types of soil and with the addition of sand. The test specimen mold is made of steel with a length of 20 cm, a width of 10 cm, and a height of 6 cm. and the specimens were dried in the sun with a drying age of 7 days. The results obtained from this study bricks using palm shell ash without burning the compressive strength value were higher than traditional bricks with combustion in a ratio of 3.82: 3.01, and the value of salt content, water absorption and visible properties of brick without burning was higher. better than traditional brick by burning. With a ratio of 0.002% salt content: 0.14%. And the comparison of the water absorption value of the bricks is 0.150%: 0.247%. Comparison of the visible properties of unburned bricks with traditional bricks with better burning quality of unburned bricks because they use special molding tools using steel with sizes according to SNI standards and then press them using a hydraulic pump.
