Designing a secure electronic voting system that preserves the transparency and flexibility of electronic systems while ensuring the integrity and privacy of traditional voting systems has always been a challenging task. Blockchain technology has emerged as a promising solution for implementing a decentralized electronic voting system that overcomes the limitations of existing systems. This ongoing work explores the feasibility of implementing a blockchain-based e-voting system that addresses the shortcomings of traditional voting methods. By examining popular blockchain frameworks and analyzing case studies, we evaluate the potential of distributed ledger technology in electronic voting systems. The proposed blockchain-based e-voting system offers enhanced security and transparency, increasing the electoral process’s integrity. Moreover, blockchain-based electronic voting systems can reduce the cost of holding national elections, making them more accessible to the public. However, the implementation of blockchain-based electronic voting systems involves addressing several challenges such as ensuring voter anonymity while having their votes counted and addressing potential security concerns.
