A novel design of low observable microstrip antenna array using complementary split ring resonators (CSRR) as ground plane is presented in this paper for stealth application. By employing complementary split ring resonator on the ground plane of the proposed antenna array, RCS reduction is achieved. Conventional antenna array is designed and simulated for a frequency of 5.4GHz. As compared to the conventional microstrip antenna array, themonostatic RCS can be reduced as much as 26 dBsmm while preserving almost the same radiation characteristics. Finally, a prototype antenna array with CSRR is fabricated. Measured results acceptably agree with the simulated results.
