The synthesis of sulfonate ester-substituted 1,3-dihydroxy-9H-xanthen-9-one (DHX) and 1,3,7-trihydroxy-9H-xanthen-9-one (THX) was successfully carried out. The synthesis started with a cyclization of the compound, followed by a charachterization using IR and 1H-NMR. The yields of the synthesis of sulfonate ester compounds for DHX and THX were 33% and 45%, respectively.
