An allergy is an abnormal body reaction that can happen to anyone, including children. It is usually caused by seafood, animals, dust, insects, and so on. Based on visit data at the primary maternity clinic, the number of allergy sufferers in children has continued to increase in the last two years. The process of diagnosing a disease is usually carried out with a series of procedures starting from registration, examination, and obtaining the diagnosis. To assist the diagnosis process, a web-based expert system application is needed using the forward chaining method and certainty factor (CF). This study aimed to analyze the forward chaining method and the certainty factor in diagnosing allergic diseases in children. The forward chaining method on the system serves to guide the reasoning process on a condition based on available knowledge. Meanwhile, the certainty factor method sought to answer the problem of incomplete and uncertain knowledge. The magnitude of the total CF value was determined by the number of matches between the symptom and the disease codes and the magnitude of the CF value for each rule in the diagnostic rule. The results of this study help diagnose allergic diseases in children, based on the highest CF value, more quickly and accurately.
