One of the courses taken in the second semester by Mathematics Education undergraduate students is Elementary Linear Algebra. The System of Linear Equations (SLE) is the first material students learn and becomes the basis for studying the material in the next chapter. The research objective was to analyze students’ mistakes in solving SLE-related questions using the Kastolan theory. The research method is descriptive qualitative. Subject-taking using a purposive sampling technique. The research subjects were 15 students from a private university in Central Java who made mistakes in solving problems on the System of Linear Equations. The results showed that prospective teacher students made conceptual errors, namely being wrong in determining a system of linear equations or not and were unable to give reasons. Procedural errors made by the subject did not substitute the values x, y, and z into SLE and changed SLE into its simplest form. Unable to carry out elementary row operations on a complete matrix in finding a solution from the SLE presented, the technical error made by the subject made an error in the calculation.
