This paper presents the production and characterization of the slow positrons (0.5–100 eV) produced at the Oak Ridge Electron Linear Accelerator and discusses the advantages and characteristics of the quadratic‐potential time‐of‐flight mass spectrometer used in studies of the ionization of large organic molecules.
