Recent advancements in the utilization of wireless sensor networks and the Internet of Things (IoT) have the potential to provide significant benefits and advantages over wired systems. The purpose of this study is to present an intelligent IoT-based monitoring system that incorporates intelligent devices for the purpose of monitoring oil and gas pipelines in a reliable and efficient manner. Oil theft can be easily detected because a leak results in less pipe vibration and pressure drop, as well as a difference in flow rate within the oil and gas pipelines. Each node includes an ESP8366-01, an Arduino MEGA 2560, a water flow sensor, a pressure sensor, and an MPU 5060 sensor. After being processed on-site, all sensor readings are collected in the microcontroller and sent to the cloud (Blynk) via Wi-Fi or GSM+GPRS. When a leak occurs or some event happens during the operation, a notification is sent to the technical person in charge to show which pipe is leaking. This project was successfully developed to monitor pipeline activities in real-time via the Internet of Things (IoT) platform.
