It has been widely reported that preoperative surgical planning improves surgical outcomes by preventing the postoperative complications associated with surgical procedures. The internal fixation of the canine femur bone in the case of veterinary patients using preoperative surgical planning has been reported extensively but hitherto little work has been reported on the internal fixation of femoral bone using additive manufacturing (AM). The presented works aim to provide insight into the process capability of femur bone intramedullary cavity fracture fixation using AM for preoperative surgical planning. This study will provide insight into the placement of intramedullary (IM) pins in the medullary cavity for improvement in the retention rate and success of the surgery.
