All Genetically Engineered (GE) crops when tested in the field, should be grown in the field called Confined Field Trial (CFT). By testing at CFT, the risk of biosafety can be controlled, and genetic material being tested will not be released out of the field. To carry out the CFT, there are several standard operation procedures (SOPs) that must be met. The SOPs included shipping, receiving materials, inventory form, planting, harvest, termination, and personal training. Potato is ahighland vegetable commodity that is mostly cultivated by farmers in Indonesia. Late blight diseases caused by Phytophthora infestans is the main diseases in potato that can cause loss of yield. Until now, farmers have only relied on the application of fungicide to control late blight because no potato variety resistance is available for farmers. CFT testing was carried out at IVEGRI in Lembang 1250 m asl, West Java. The experimental design was a Nested Plot. Factor A was sprayedwith fungicides and without sprayed fungicide. Factor B consisted of 9 potato genotypes nested in the A factor. The plot area was 3 m x 2.4 m, plant population per plot was 30 plants. The result of CFT has produced the clone called a stacked gene UG 234, which is resistant to late blight with high yielding more than 30 tons/ha both in sprayed and non-sprayed fungicides. With the availability of resistant variety, the use of fungicide can be reduced so that the results obtained arefree of pesticide residue and more efficient in the use of farm inputs.
