Micro Hydro Power Plant (MHPP) is a type of renewable energy power plant that has the potential to be developed in Indonesia, especially in areas without electricity. A common problem in MHPP is the unstable output power frequency of the generator when the load varies. A device commonly used to overcome frequency instability is Electronic Load Controller (ELC) by balancing the power of the generator and the load. ELC performance can be optimized by adjusting the ignition angle of the TRIAC more accurately to deliver the power ballast load more precisely. This study aims to more accurately adjust the ignition angle of the TRIAC to stabilize the output power frequency quickly and accurately. The TRIAC’s ignition angle was controlled using the Fuzzy-PI controller method. The proposed control system was simulated using MATLAB Simulink. The simulation results show that the Fuzzy-PI controller can optimize ELC to work faster in restoring frequency stability with a lower spike at the MHPP output power due to load changes.
