In Indonesia, there have been many studies related to mathematical literacy. However, there still needs to be more research that examines the analysis of mathematical literacy skills, especially junior high school students, in solving minimum competency assessment questions. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the mathematical literacy ability of junior high school students in class VIII in solving minimum competency assessment questions. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this study were class VIII C students from SMPN 1 Surakarta, as well as taking samples of three students to interview. The indicators of mathematical literacy used are communication, mathematics, strategies for solving problems, and the use of symbolic language, as well as reasoning and reasoning. The results of this study show that students are divided into three categories: students with low, medium, and high mathematical literacy abilities. Students with low mathematical literacy skills still need help understanding the information in the problem well and need to be completed writing down the situation in the problem. Students with moderate mathematical literacy skills can meet communication indicators, mathematical indicators, and problem-solving strategies. Students with high mathematical literacy skills meet all indicators of mathematical literacy. Students have been able to solve problems by planning strategies and can explain the steps. Students can correctly analyze and conclude the problems' results. Researchers hope that the results of this study can be an evaluation material for teachers to innovate in learning to continue to improve students' mathematical literacy skills.
