Digitization of an object from visual to data point will help researchers manipulate the data for further use – particularly in reconstructing a surface. Currently, surface reconstruction focuses on non-rectangular topologies such as triangular surface. A trigonometric function is one of the methods used to generate a triangular surface. This function has geometric characteristics that offer better results. Hence, many researchers today study the triangular surface using trigonometric function. The key features of trigonometric triangular spline surface are discussed and highlighted in this study. The results of the generated surface using certain basis functions are compared and visually shown. This systematic review also provides a comparative analysis of the presented methods. Finally, the directions for future studies are presented.
