The observed spin flop transition in some antiferromagnetic layer compounds of the type (CH)2n(NH3)2MnCl4(n=1,...5) is studied in view of the quasi‐twodimensional nature of the spin system. The behavior of the system in the neighborhood of the bicritical point is studied and the bicritical exponents are calculated. A possible occurence of a tetracritical phase is discussed.
