Die casting is a cast mold for the formation of component parts an. The material dies should have criteria such as resistance deformation to high temperature, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. AISI H13 steel is one of the hot work tool steels which can be an option for dies casting applications. Carbonitriding is a surface hardening process in which steel is heated above a critical temperature in a gaseous environment so that carbon and nitrogen are absorbed into the surface. This research aims to determine the effect temperature and time of the pack carbonitriding process and determine the effect of pack carbonitriding on the hardness and microstructure values produced and to determine changes in hardness when hot hardness testing is carried out for 2, 4, and 6 hours with temperatures of 750°C, 850°C and 950°C. The result show that the temperature and time carbonitriding affect the hardness AISI H 13. The optimum temperature is produced at a temperature of 850°C with a processing time of 2 hours with a hardness value of 997 HVN with a diffusion depth of 46.543 m. After that, a hot hardness test was carried out on two samples, where the results of this hot hardness test did not result in a significant decrease in the hardness value and did not cause deformation in the sample.
