The current phenomenon in the centers not only of historic cities but also in urban areas not older than 50 years is that pipeline networks such as water supply, sewerage, or gas pipeline are in a state of disrepair and are practically at the end of their life. Due to frequent accidents, it is, therefore, necessary to repair and replace these existing networks. If the pipeline is replaced by the classic method of open excavation, there are traffic complications and restrictions, congestion, increased emissions of exhaust gases, noise, restrictions of movement and supply, and the resulting increased costs and financial losses. Trenchless technologies are being developed to address these issues. These progressive methods are becoming more and more important due to lower traffic restrictions but also due to comparable costs, in some cases even with lower costs compared to standard excavation methods. These new trenchless pipeline construction and renovation technologies are used primarily in urban areas, but there is an increasing trend in use in rural areas, especially when crossing roads, watercourses, leading routes through protected areas, etc.
