Brine-to-water heat pumps become more and more popular for both public and private investors. Sun energy accumulated in the ground can be used as the main energy source, supported by electricity for the operation of compressor and pumps. This work analyzes the utilization of surface collectors, geothermal probes or helix probes as heat exchangers to assess their energetic, environmental and economic characteristics in terms of heat pump operation. As the method of environmental impact calculation, Life Cycle Assessment was used. The main results pointed out that horizontal surface collectors are the most environmentally friendly as well as economical solution.
