Corrosion of carbon steel in sulfuric acid (H2SO4) was tested at a variety of temperatures (30°C, 38°C, 46°C) with varying acid concentrations (2%, 6%, 8%) and time (15, 30, 60) minutes at each temperature. The results revealed that raising the acid concentration increased the corrosion rate. The rate of corrosion increases as the temperature and time increase. Weight loss technique was used in experimental study to measure corrosion rate. The design of experiment shows the significance of temperature and concentration on corrosion rate. The maximum corrosion rate is obtained at conc. of 0.08 and temperature 46 oC. The result reveals that when employing inhibitor (Indole) with concentration (1 gm/L) at T=38 & 46 oC and 8% sulfuric acid concentration, the corrosion rate decreases, indicating that this inhibitor is a good choice.
