In this work, we propose an optimal analytical approach to investigate a Duffing-type equation modelling structural elements involving a forced mass-spring system, where the spring does not exactly obey the Hooke’s law. The Optimal Homotopy Asymptotic Method (OHAM) was successfully applied to obtain an explicit and accurate analytical solution to the considered model. Numerical simulations were developed in order to validate the analytical results and to emphasize the accuracy of the proposed approach.
