Now-a-days, the demand for agriculture and food products is increasing due to various reasons such as population growth, inadequate agricultural land, water inconsistency, etc., This leads to integrating the agriculture and food production sector with Internet of Things (IoT) technology in order to increase the quality and quantity of agriculture products. For this, smart farming is one of the solutions to increase the food productivity and to maintain product quality and quantity. In smart farming, data from various IoT devices and sensors such as soil moisture sensor, temperature humidity sensor, disease monitoring sensor, weather monitoring sensor, etc., are collected to monitor and the varying environmental conditions and take action in the farming land. However, security is the challenging aspect of smart farming due to mobility, heterogeneity, remote access, etc, in the IoT devices and possible attacks such as Denial of service, data loss, data theft, etc in the network. This security challenge in the IoT network can be overcome by using Software Defined Network (SDN) technology in which the control plane is decoupled from data plane that brings security defence mechanism in IoT such as managing malicious traffic or IoT devices isolation. In this project, the IoT network architecture using SDN is simulated for monitoring and maintaining crops and make the network resilient towards the sensor node attack and sensor node failures.
