Microstrip antennas are used in many applications since it is cost effective, compact and easy to fabricate. The drawbacks which have to be concentrated to build a better antenna are low gain and narrow bandwidth. This work reported a design of a slotted patch antenna which has considerably high gain. It has been simulated over a polystyrene material whose dielectric constant is 2.54. Materials and Methods - Conventional Rectangular Patch Antenna [RPA] and Novel Low-profile Slotted Microstrip [NLSM] antennas are designed and compared with each other on the basis of gain. They were analyzed using SPSS with 40 samples whose significance value is less than 0.05. Results - The designed antenna is simulated using Altair Feko software which gives the result with peak gain of 6.17dB for RPA and 8.48dB for NLSM antenna. Conclusion - Novel LSM antenna appears to have better gain and directivity than conventional RPA.
