The urban heritage of any city is a clear evidence of the ancients’ knowledge of the concept of sustainability in construction. The ancestors were keen to build in a way that makes it harmonious with the nature of the place and climate conditions and taking into account the customs and building traditions common in that place, and they thus knew the concept of sustainability whether intentionally or unintentionally, at the present time there has been increased interest in the importance of applying the criteria and ingredients of sustainability in architecture and in its various aspects such as environmental sustainability, energy, construction materials, etc., with the aim of preserving natural resources and investing them in an optimal manner. and even urban, including airport buildings (Terminal), Employing the architectural and urban heritage in airport buildings is a definition of the identity of the place, i.e. the city in the first place, in addition to considering it one of the aspects of the intellectual and material sustainability of this heritage in a building that represents the city’s gateway to the whole world, in addition to giving the passenger building a special character and creating a distinct identity for it by making it embody the urban heritage The city has a mental image in the recipient’s mind about the city’s history and urban heritage, and despite the use of urban heritage vocabulary in several international airports, there are shortcomings in describing the mechanisms used in this subject and here the research problem has been identified with the lack of scientific knowledge about the mechanism used in the sustainability of the urban heritage In airport buildings.
