Turbo-expander units play an important role in the transportation, process of petroleum and gas. They have a capacity of up to 5.5 MW despite their small size. The scientific team headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor Yu. B. Galerkin handed over to a customer the 26th compressor project for the turbo-expander unit. The industrial partner - JSC “Turbocholod” has produced more than hundreds of TEU with compressors, which are designed by using the different versions of Universal Modeling Method. The design process of the new TEU consists of several steps, one of the important elements of which is the variant calculation of the compressor for the specified parameters. For this purpose, a specialized statistical model is used to calculate the efficiency of the compressor according to its main parameters. The efficiency of stages designed according to a single, unambiguous methodology depends on the design parameters and similarity criteria. Generalization of the TEU design experience made it possible to improve the statistical mathematical model taking into account the specifics of compressors. The TEU impellers can be manufactured by casting and milling. The new model takes into account the method of manufacturing the impeller. When designing TEU in standard-sized housings, there is a need to correctly calculate the losses in the inlet nozzles. Often their suboptimal sizes lead to a high level of velocities and, as a result, high losses. For correct calculation in the new version of the program, the user sets the area of the inlet nozzle and its loss coefficient. The new statistical model showed an inaccuracy of 1.8%, which is sufficient for its practical application in project activities.
