The uses of microorganisms in bioremediation have gained great attention, mainly on its enzyme activity. The pH is a crucial factor in bioremediation process through the enzymatic activity of microorganisms that mainly convert the harmful substances into the harmless one. It's important to cultivate the microorganisms in a substrate with suitable pH to support its growth and to control the metabolic mechanism in the cell. In this study, the first step was to extract of crude enzyme. Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) with different pH (3,5,7 and 9) was used as substrate for amylase production and the amylase activity was calculated according to the DNSA (3, 5 dinitro salicylic acid) method. Best pH for amylase production that may have potential in industrial application was found to be pH 9 on the day 3 with (2.6828 U/mL).
