Phytochemical compounds, the total content of polyphenol (TPC) and flavonoids (TFC), and antioxidant activity of extract of Syzygiumcumini were obtained via maceration and hot extraction method. Folin-Ciocalteu and aluminum chloride colorimetric assay was adopted to evaluate TPC and TFC, respectively. Regarding antioxidant activity of the extract, DPPH and ABTS scavenging free radicals assays were used to determine. With the highest values of TPC was 35.46±0.18 µg GAE/mg dry extract and TFC was 16.45±0.09 µg QE/mg, the ethanol was showed the best solvent to extract those compounds from Syzygiumcumini. The ethanol extract showed the smallest IC50 values as 190,43 µg/ml (DPPH assay) and 685,15 µg/ml (ABTS assay). Current results suggest the potential of Syzygiumcumini ethanol leaves extract in the manufacture of antioxidant agents.
