A simple power factor estimation for wide range of lagging or leading sinusoidal voltage and currents has been described. Proposed methodology gives the dc signal proportional to cosine of phase angle between voltage and current, without computing the ratio of active power to apparent power. First step is to sample the current signal at the instant of voltage peak, second step is to get the maximum value of ac current using opanps of and the third step is to find the ratio of these voltages proportional to currents using Analog divider. Third step to decide polarity of current at zero crossing point of voltage signal
