Conservation of cultural heritage has become a reference in sustainable development in modern society. Universally, it has been recognized by the world community that the preservation of cultural heritage has provided benefits for the conservation of the environment. Conservation of cultural heritage buildings can reduce energy use associated with new construction, waste disposal, demolition of buildings and promote sustainable development by conserving and saving energy use. To achieve sustainable management of cultural heritage buildings, maintenance is the most crucial aspect in preserving heritage values in buildings. The Al Osmani Grand Mosque is located in Jalan Yos Sudarso KM 17.5, Pekan Labuhan Village, Medan Labuhan District, Medan, founded by Sultan Deli VII Osman Perkasa Alam, not only a building that functions as a place of worship. But basically, the Al-Osmani Grand Mosque is a blend of culture between ethnic Chinese, MiddleEastern, Indian, Spanish, and local ethnic groups in Medan, namely ethnic Malays. The direction of the maintenance strategy is to design the preparation of guidelines for the construction of new buildings in the courtyard of the Al Osmani Mosque, the determination of special zoning for the cultural heritage area, the provision of incentives, the extension of the local community, and the establishment of local binding regulation.
