Spatial reasoning is one of the skills needed in studying mathematics, especially geometry. This study aims to investigate the effect of spatial reasoning on the mathematics performance of middle school students. The research sample was 121 students in a private middle school in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Data were collected through math scores in the 2021 even semester final exams and spatial reasoning tests covering aspects of spatial visualization, mental rotation, and spatial orientation. Simple linear regression analysis was used to answer the proposed hypothesis. The results showed that spatial reasoning had a positive effect on mathematics performance. The contribution of spatial reasoning to mathematics performance is still low at 6.6%.
