This study responds to sudden online learning due to the Covid-19 Pandemic so that it causes a transition of learning from face-to-face models to online learning. This study aimed to describe the shift to online learning in mathematics education students in Indonesia. The research design used a qualitative approach. The participants were 953 mathematics education students from various universities in Indonesia. Data collection using an online questionnaire. Meanwhile, data analysis used descriptive statistics. The research findings show that online learning in higher education has been going well, especially in the mathematics education study program. Students already have sufficient technology tools to follow online learning. The favorite online teaching and learning tool used in Mathematics Education study programs is WhatsApp. Students also show good mastery of online learning.
