Cadmium is one of the metals in aquatic systems found both as free ions and in a complex form with dissolved organic matter. This metal is important to be monitored in aquatic systems because it is easy to become toxic at levels 10-50 ppm of the normal concentration required for the growth of aquatic organisms and biota. Variations of metal species have been identified in natural waters, including organic and inorganic species forms and are highly depend on pH and concentration. Research on the effect of pH and concentration on the optimum adsorption of cadmium ions (Cd2+) using nata de coco cellulose and nata de coco cellulose modified diethylenetriamine has been carried out. The results of the analysis showed that adsorbent of nata de coco cellulose-diethylenetriamine was optimally adsorbed of cadmium at pH 6 with a concentration of 149.92 ± 0.02 mg/L compared to adsorbent of original nata de coco cellulose at the same pH with a concentration of 101.18 ± 1.02 mg/L, while the results of the effect of initial concentration variations were obtained 133.65 ± 3.64 mg/L and 142.35 ± 0.35 mg/L respectively. Data of the isolation of nata de coco cellulose and its modified were characterized by FTIR.
