Durian shell is high in cellulose, so that it can make activated charcoal. This activated charcoal can be used as a raw material for making polyamide membranes that function as a filter to purify used cooking oil. The method we use is experimentation with the steps of material preparation; making activated charcoal from durian shell; manufacturing of durian shell charcoal polyamide composite membrane; testing the physical characteristics of the membrane, the application of the durian shell charcoal polyamide composite membrane, and test the characteristics of used cooking oil after processing. This study was designed to determine the effect of polyamide-charcoal durian skin membranes on reducing free fatty acid levels, water content, and the impact of durian shell charcoal cross-sectional area on the absorption of polyamide composite membranes. Durian peel charcoal polyamide composite membrane affects the water content, free fatty acids, and density of used cooking oil. The cross-sectional area of durian peel charcoal influences the membrane’s absorption capacity; the more significant the cross-sectional area of durian peel charcoal, the higher the absorption capacity of the oil. The more charcoal and nylon mass on the polyamide membrane, the smaller the FFA content produced.
