This study aims (1) to determine the improvement of the mathematics problem-solving ability of students of class VIII G in junior high school through the concept map-assisted group investigation learning model, and (2) to describe the responses of class VIII G students to the implementation of the concept map-assisted group investigation learning model. This research is a classroom action research conducted in three cycles. The participants of this research were 43 students of class VIII G in the academic year 2019/2020. The instruments used to collect the data were interviews, observation, questionnaires, and tests. The novelty of learning mathematics with the group investigation model is aided by concept maps that provide opportunities for students to construct their own knowledge. The results of the study showed that the average score of students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities increased from cycle to cycle. In cycle I, the average score of students’ math problem-solving ability was 5.83 (good enough category) then increased to 7.59 (good category) in cycle II and increased again to 9.44 (very good category) in cycle III. Meanwhile, students’ responses to the implementation of the concept map-assisted group investigation model were classified as positive with an average student response score of 43.67.
