Hair care is an essential step on a daily basis with the help of many synthetic surfactants which usually cause the dryness after use due to their strong cleansing effect. The aim of study was to evaluate the physical-chemical properties of shampoo product from Coconut oil (Cocos nucifera) in Ben Tre province, Vietnam which could be an ideal alternative to synthetic detergent agent. The main ingredient of the product including raw soaps (from coconut oil) and sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES). Moreover, other additives were added such as plantacare 2000, glycerin, cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB), polyquaternium-7, D-panthenol, repoly 100, citric acid (25%), DMDM Hydantoin (DMDM), etc. As a result, the physical-chemical properties of product was determined, including dry matter content as 28.8%, pH value as 8.24, viscosity greater than 11 P. Besides, products were highly antibacterial, non-irritate, non-sensitization of the skin, and meet the requirements of TCVN standards. The results also justified the role of coconut oil as the main detergent agent in personal care products and cosmetic.
