The misconceptions of pre-service biology teachers are a particular concern for the researchers. A teacher has a great influence in the world of education. A teacher is a figure who plays an important role in the transfer of knowledge so that misconceptions will not affect students’ understanding. The study aims to determine the level of misconceptions of pre-service biology teachers on the Ecological Succession material. This study employed the cross-sectional survey research model. The respondents were pre-service biology teachers who were third-year students. The data collection technique used was a three-tier diagnostic test questionnaire. The study revealed that 44.76% of respondents were in the understanding the concept category, 40.55% of respondents were in the misconceptions category, and 14.38% of respondents were in the not understanding the concept category. The false-positive misconception category was 17.086%, and the false-negative misconception category was 9.29%. Therefore, the level of the misconception of pre-service biology teachers on Ecology Succession was categorized as moderate. Through this research, pre-service biology teachers can improve their professional competence in mastering the material used when they become a teacher.
