Education for Sustainable Development was introduced to strengthen the role of education to ensure sustainable development for future generations. Some research has been conducted mainly on economic or environmental topics. Society is rarely touched, and a language class is rarely viewed as a suitable class to teach topics about sustainable development. Thus, this research intends to look at the effectiveness of a language class to teach topics related to sustainable development and the perspectives of the subjects on storytelling as a technique. Mixed methods research was conducted with 30 subjects in total. A pre-test and a post-test were conducted to examine the effectiveness and an interview was performed to explore the subjects’ perspectives. The results have shown that a language class was effective to teach sustainable development topics as seen in the significant increase in scores. In addition, the subjects also state their support of storytelling as an appropriate technique.
