Gestasional Diabetes Mellitus is diabetes mellitus that is detected for first time during pregnancy without a previous history of diabetes mellitus. Meanwhile, young mice born to maternal with gestasional diabetes are at high risk for developing macrosomia. Macrosomia that is not treated adequately is at risk of causing hyperbilirubinemia. DM management can be done in three ways : oral antidiabetic drugs, insulin administration, and diet therapy. Glycemic index (GI) is one of the important concept proposed in choosing the right food for people with diabetes. Sago (Metroxylon sagu Rottb.) is a carbohydrate source that has a low GI of 28-40. The purpose of this study was to determine the diet sago (Metroxylon sago Rottb) on the hemoglobin level of mice (Mus musculus) from a female parent with gestational diabetes mellitus. The treatment is this study were negative control (mice whitout GDM), positive control ( mice whit GDM), mice given sago diet P1 (5gr sago/20gr feed/head/day), P2 (10gr sago/20gr feed/head/day) , and P3 (15gr sago/20gr feed/head/day). Measurement of hemoglobin levels was carried out five days after parturition whit the result that there was a decrease in hemoglobin levels whit the same value between negative controls and the treatment of sago diet diet 15gr/20gr feed/head/day.
