The Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic that has plagued the world has influenced all facets of our lives including the education and economy sector. Governments across the globe have issued stay-at-home protocols resulting in colleges and universities to be shut down in ensuring the health of the students can be protected. Subsequently, education institutes have turned their sight into completely transforming traditional classroom settings to online classrooms in order to guarantee the continuity of education. The present study is aimed to analyse the impact of this transformation at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FKM) of Universiti Teknologi Mara, Shah Alam, Malaysia. An online survey form was sent out to students between 17th August 2020 to 31st August 2020 to 300 students of FKM. Total of 254 (85%) responses were received where 72.4% were male and 27.6% were female. Among the respondents, 41.8% reported having little or no online learning experience before the pandemic, and 41% preferred blended learning (combination of online and traditional classroom setting). Amongst the challenges reported were social disconnection from peers (83%), inadequacy of video and audio quality (78%) and ineptness with online platform (66%). Students were also concerned on the rise of dishonesty and plagiarism amongst peers (48%) during online examinations and 71% claimed there were difficulties in submitting the assignment and examinations online. Despite the challenges, the overall feedback was positive as students learn to adapt to the new normal.
