The current trends in urban planning include the creation of urban projects that are designed to reduce the impact on the environment and change the life habits of citizens, making the latter more responsible for their environment. The key to such plans is the use of environmentally friendly technologies and materials for the construction of buildings and due infrastructure. The article discusses the international certification systems for evaluation of modern medical institutions within the given framework. The authors present a number of examples of successful “Green Hospital” projects. The essay shows the power-engineering and ecological benefits of projects that help to address a range of global goals, including the climate change problem, stimulation of economic growth and creation of sustainable societies. The authors note the importance of developing national systems for sustainable development of civil engineering and renovation of healthcare facilities.
