Concrete-filled tubes (CFTs) are often utilised in the construction of high-rise buildings because of their structural efficacy. The concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) is made out of steel section in-filled with concrete, combining the best features of concrete and steel. This type of compound element really does have a number of benefits that have also been acknowledged around the globe, including exceptional strength and ductility, good cyclic performance, excellent heat resistance, and outstanding constructability. Due to their outstanding seismic response and good energy dissipation, CFSTs have been widely utilized in many industrial structures, especially in high seismic risk zones. Previous CFST work has mostly targeted on uniaxial compression, bending, as well as eccentric compression. Hence it becomes important to study the behaviour of concrete filled steel tubular members under the different loading states like impact loading, long term sustained loading, cyclic loading, etc. This article provides a quick overview of the performance of CFST members under various loading circumstances. This study showed that the material parameters such as diameter of the steel tubes, concrete grade, concrete type, steel yield strength, steel tube thickness, shape of steel tube, aggregate type, etc. play a vital role in influencing the CFST's performance under the effort of various loading states. The increasing grade of steel tube and concrete core improves the working against cyclic loading. Utilization of steel fibre reinforced concrete enhanced the tensile capacity of CFSTs. The circular CFSTs are found to exhibit better flexure strength than square CFSTs under the influence of corrosion.
