Y-type barium nickel hexaferrite (Ba2Ni2Fe12O22)nanofiber was prepared through sol-gel electrospinning method followed by calcination at 1100℃. The structural property of the prepared sample was investigated by X-rays diffraction(XRD)technique. The XRD pattern revealed the formation of single-phase crystallineY-type barium nickel hexaferrite structure. The Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was used to study the functional groups of Ba2Ni2Fe12O22 nanofiber. The morphology of the sample was examined by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) for confirming the nanofiber structure and the averagediameter was found to be 1.5 µm. Magnetic properties of the prepared nanofiber was analyzed through a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM)at room temperature. The M-H loop of nanofiber showed soft ferrimagnetism with themaximum magnetization of 22 emu/g at 15000 G. The high magnetization of Ba2Ni2Fe12O22 nanofiber makes it a promising candidate for permanent magnets and multiferroic applications.
