High blood pressure disorders during pregnancy are associated with a variety of maternal and fetal complications, and only a few risk factors are known for developing these disorders during pregnancy. Limited and conflicting data are available on the relationship between thyroid function and the risk of developing high blood pressure during pregnancy. High levels of FT4 during pregnancy have been associated with an increased risk of developing high blood pressure disorders which can in turn lead to abnormalities in the endothelial cells of the blood vessels.
