Solid desiccant based rotary wheel with components like heat recovery wheel, evaporative cooler and a heater or generator, combined known as solid desiccant cooling system (SDCS), provides an alternative cooling system which can be a better solution to achieve the desired cooling comfort, especially in hot and humid climate. In this paper, the effectiveness of this system was evaluated in terms of COP. Results obtained from the simulations were used to find out the COPs. TRNSYS version 16 software was used in this analysis. COPs of this system for a lecture theater, for which cooling comfort is be achieved, were calculated under different climatic conditions. In this regard, four major cities of India Trivandrum, Kolkata, Mumbai and New-Delhi were selected. The calculated values of COPs show that SDCS works very effectively in the hot and humid climate.
